A fire extinguisher is a portable fire fighting tool. Put chemicals in fire extinguishers to put out fires. Fire extinguishers are one of the common fire fighting equipment. They are stored in public places or places where fires may occur. Different types of fire extinguishers are filled with different components and are specially designed for different fire causes. Care must be taken to avoid adverse effects and dangers during use.
The world's first fire extinguisher was born. In 1834, a fire in London almost completely destroyed the ancient Palace of Westminster, where the British Houses of Parliament are located. Among the many fire watchers, there is one person who is not idle to watch the fire scene, and he is George William Manby.
Born in Norfolk, Manby was a young soldier, officer to captain, commander of the Yarmouth Barracks, a position that allowed him time to devote himself to the cause of saving human life that so strongly appealed to him. Earlier, he was keen on rescue of shipwrecks. He invented a trousers-shaped lifebuoy and was the first person to propose a flashing lighthouse to identify signals.
Later, Manby turned his genius from marine rescue to fire rescue. When the fire broke out, he was experimenting with fireproof suits. His most remarkable and pioneering contribution was his invention of the portable compressed gas fire extinguisher, a copper cylinder two feet long and eight inches in diameter with a capacity of four gallon liters, essentially the same as fire extinguishers today. He put fire extinguishers in his specially designed trolley, and he hoped that patrols equipped with such fire extinguishers would immediately put out small fires at the beginning of the fire, thereby reducing the number of major fires.
